SSI Divemaster Overview
The SSI Divemaster Course is the combination of SSI Dive Guide Course with SSI Science of Diving.
The DiveGuide part focus in teaching you the knowledge and skills to guide certified divers. The Science of Diving part focus in developing your knowledge in areas like Physics, Physiology, Decompression theory, Skills & Environment. All the academic portion should be completed online before you arrive to Utila allowing more time for practical sessions avoiding “long boring classroom sessions”! SSI online or offline training is free-of-charge, means Captain Morgan’s will not charge you extra for this online/offline training option. After you complete your online training, you will take the SSI DiveGuide and SSI Science of Diving exams, which are written tests on the topics studied. After you pass the exams you will get to work with all shop instructors as part of your training including assisting students in classes and guiding dives.
PADI Divemaster Overview
The PADI Divemaster Course is the first professional rating in the PADI system. It includes various areas of study including Physics, Physiology, and also Skills & Environment.Your instructor will insure you receive PADI required training including information sessions, progress checks, discussions, and the opportunity to discuss and ask questions about your education. You will get to work with all shop instructors as part of your training including assisting students in classes. After you complete your studies, you will take the PADI Divemaster exams, which are written tests on the topics studied

One of the skills practiced during the Divemaster course is learning how to navigate underwater and topographical mapping. In the right gallery are some examples of maps created by Captain Morgan’s Divemasters in Training for some of Utila’s dive sites.
Once finished you will be a certified PADI Divemaster, this allows you to run certain PADI courses such as the Scuba Tune-up and Supervising Certified Divers. You will also be able to run the Discover Snorkeling course.
