SSI Hypoxic Trimix Program

SSI’s Hypoxic Trimix program is the pinnacle of technical diving. Here you will use all the knowledge, skills, equipment and experience from all your previous training and push your limits to the extreme. There are two paths; one takes you to 80 metre / 265 feet and the other to 100 metres/330 feet using the same extended range total diving system you’ve mastered in previous programs. However, you will now use a minimum of three stages for decompression and trip gases. You will earn SSI Hypoxic Trimix certification after completing this program.

In order to participate in this course you will need the following:

Have logged at least 100 total dives. This is the bare minimum.
Take a test dive with us. We can ask for more experience after the test dive.
30 dives to more than 30 meters
10 dives to more than 45 meters
20 staged decompression dives with at least one (2) gas change
Have the following SSI certifications or an equivalent from a recognized training agency:

Extended Technical Range

The reason we request this level is that the student must have complete control of their buoyancy and fit before beginning this course.

Now we are preparing for dives up to 100 m. It is entirely up to the SSI Hypoxic Trimix Instructor to accept you on this course. Additional training may be recommended before completing the program.

We insist on the safety of divers and it would be unsafe if we did not ask for these minimum levels.

As with all of our technical diving courses, we will follow a similar class structure.

This will consist of a Confined Water Session. This will be used to go over skills and refresh ourselves. We can have 2 or 3 sessions depending on the needs of the students.

Our open water sessions are where we will put our skills to use in real life dives.

Maximum depth for Open Water Training Dives 1 and 2: 40 meters
Maximum depth for Open Water Training Dives 3 and 4: 80 meters, with at least one dive deeper than 75 meters
Maximum depth for open water training dives 5 and 6: 100 meters
At least one (1) dive must be to a depth of 90 meters

As always, our classes will be recorded to be used as video briefings after class. This way we can see exactly where we need to improve.

The price of the course includes the following.

SSI digital material
digital certification
All confined water dives.
Minimum of 6 open water dives.

Not included in the price.

At this level of diving the Technical Diver should have made an investment. At this level of diving it is better if you have your own equipment. We can help with the purchase of equipment, and eventually we will have a limited supply on site.

Rental equipment is not included in the price. Can be rented for an extra $100.
Gases are not included and are considered an add-on.

We always try to give the student the best price available, but due to the recent Covid pandemic, 02 prices have increased.

We will charge the gas per liter. This may vary depending on the price of gas at the time of purchase from the supplier.

At Captain Morgan’s Dive Resort we believe in real training. We want you to have the best experience possible. That is why we run our Tech Diving the way we do. Our courses consist of:

Theoretical classes where we update you on:
- Dive physics
- Different gear configurations
- Gas planning
Dry Runs where we do all the exercises on dry land to help muscle memory. By doing this, we are showing you how to do the exercise before you hit the water. So when you get in the water you’ve already worked on the exercise.
Confined Water Dives where we will work on the exercises we have done in dry races.
Open Water Dives where we will plan and execute normal dives and we will have situations that we must solve. This further helps build muscle memory.
Information Sessions. This is where we will sit down and talk about each dive. The dive summary will tell us what we will do during each phase of the dive.
Video Report. We will use videos to inform our classes. What better way to listen to a debriefing. As we talk about the dive we can see it all. All exercises will be recorded by a cameraman/woman in the water.
